Lincoln Financial Field - Philadelphia, PA

Wick Fisher White designed a new hot water boiler plant at Lincoln Financial Field consisting of two 450-horsepower and two 250-horsepower Bryan flexible water tube hot water boilers with gas-fired burners, controls and safety devices. The Eagles requested the design of the new boiler plant after increasing electrical cost associated with their electric heat throughout the stadium. We modified the controls of the existing chilled water system to allow for the new boiler plant and create a dual-temperature water system at the stadium. As part of this project, we also developed a site plan to illustrate the points of connection for the gas service, domestic water service, sanitary and storm water connections to existing systems. Due to the complexity and fast-tracked pace of the project, this was a collaborative design-build effort between WFW and Herman Goldner Co.

Novacare Complex - Philadelphia, PA

Wick Fisher White performed engineering services to evaluate the existing HVAC system concerns at the Novacare Complex including:

  • Evaluation of the capacity of the heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to determine if they are adequate.

  • Review the performance of the HVAC systems to determine if they were performing to the design intent.

  • Evaluate the adequacy of the zoning of the air distribution system, as well as the sizing and actual installation as compared to what is required.

Philadelphia Flyers - Practice Facility - Voorhees, NJ

In 2013 Wick Fisher White provided MEP design and construction administration services for the partial renovation of the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey, the practice facility of the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.  The project included the full renovation of the clubhouse area, including the team locker rooms, equipment rooms, video rooms, medical suite, hydrotherapy room, showers, dining room/kitchen, trainer offices and coach’s suite. The project was completed in two phases during the spring and summer, and construction was completed in time for the start of the 2013/2014 hockey season.

A primary engineering challenge of the project was maintaining consistent and comfortable humidity levels in the locker room. Prior to the renovation, the team equipment managers were forced to manually overheat the locker room after practices to reduce the humidity in the space to acceptable levels. This problem was overcome with the design of a state of the art dehumidification system, integrated with the space air conditioning through new automatic controls.

Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia, PA

WFW provided MEP design services for the construction of a six story, 90,000 square foot addition to the Wells Fargo Center Arena sports and entertainment complex in Philadelphia, PA. The upper four floors of the addition consist of executive office space for multiple tenants of Comcast-Spectacor, the facility's owner. The ground floor is an extension of the existing arena's main concourse and houses the facility's security offices, and concession stands. These concession stands front a new food court dining area with a full service bar and outdoor seating during warm weather events. A new kitchen is provided in the basement level to support the ever increasing catering needs of Aramark, the main food service vendor for the Wells Fargo Center complex.
